Human
Rights Watch demanded to end relentless violence in Mugadisho.
The human rights watch express its concern
persistent violence in Mugadisho, the capital of Somalia, which is
worsening the humanitarian catastrophe, faced by thousands of Somali
civilians.
The last clash between the Islamic militant forces in opposition to
Ethiopian armed forces with Somali government troops resulted in hundreds
of civilian deaths on last 3days. The human rights groups reported that at
least 11 civilians slaughtered and cut their throats off in Largest Tablik
Mosque in Somalia, the Al-Hidaya.
“The UN Security Council should act decisively to end abuses. It ought to
establish an international commission of inquiry into the recent crimes
and consider targeted sanctions on the worst abusers.” Said Georgette
Gagnon, Africa director at Human Rights Watch.
The constant fighting and endless violence has risen up when Ethiopia sent
thousands of troops in 2006 to help the Western-backed interim government
oust Islamists from Mogadishu. Thousands of civilians have been killed and
injured and up to 700,000 have been forced to flee indiscriminate attacks,
targeted killings, destruction of property and other abuses documented by
Human Rights Watch.
