Islamic Courts Union captured Jowhar town

The Islamic Courts union forces have seized Jowhar town (90km north of Mogadishu; Capital of Somalia) last night after the regional government of the province completely left two days ago.

Reliable sources confirmed that Islamic courts union forces have arrived in the town Jowhar Saturday night to fill the vacuum and to stabilize the town from the insecurity. Leaders of the Islamic union Courts militia are going to set up strong base hold in the town, by starting meetings, discussions and consultations with the elders of the town. It is not first time that the Islamic Union Militia seized the town; they have captured several times in recent months and pulled out.

Though Islamic Union ousted from the capital of Mugadisho at the end of 2006, they have regrouped and started guerilla war, which resulted relentless fighting between them and the Ethiopian backed government. On the other side the government and its Ethiopian allies haven’t got means to eliminate the insurgents or to begin the fruitable negotiation with the rebels to end persist-violence.
